Well Dang! Productions is working on a documentary about Shawn Phillips, and though we have a lot of stuff, we know there’s a lot of material out there about him that we haven’t seen.
What We Need
We have hundreds of hours of interviews and a decent collection of footage from the mid-1990s onward, but we are most eager to gather any of the following:
- VIDEO
- Films of Shawn in action in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s (8mm, 16mm, etc.)
- High quality home video of Shawn from the 1980s / 1990s.
- Copies of live television broadcast footage (nothing currently published on YouTube) with detailed information about origin.
- PHOTO
- Your high resolution photos of Shawn from the 1960s-1980s
- High resolution scans of ticket stubs.
- AUDIO
- High quality soundboard recordings of live concerts from the 1960s – 1980s (that you or someone you know recorded).
- INFORMATION
- Leads on who to contact for any of the above!
What We Don’t Need
Please do not send us any material that you don’t own or did not photograph / video / record / capture yourself, such as:
- Any material that is already on any of Shawn’s YouTube channels
- Additional Audio / Photo / Video you grabbed from the Internet
- Blurry or low-resolution photos captured on your phone.

Undigitized Media
If you have materials that haven’t been digitized (photos, slides, film, audio tapes), we are willing to cover the cost of digitization. Reach out to us and we can discuss how best to accommodate this.
